1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the HabitGuard application ("Application" or "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App. These Terms govern your relationship with HabitGuard as a user (specifically as a parent, legal guardian, or developer configuring the app).

2. Eligible Users & Parental Consent

The Application is designed as a parental control helper utility. You represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age or have reached the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction.
  • You are the parent, legal guardian, or authorized supervisor of the child utilizing the mobile device on which the App is installed.
  • You possess the legal authority to grant the required system permissions and monitor the child's screen time activity.

3. License Grant

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, limited license to download, install, and run a copy of the Application on a mobile device that you own or legally control, solely for your personal parental monitoring use.

4. Mandatory Permissions Consent

To operate effectively, the App relies on native Android permissions. By enabling these features, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Accessibility Service: You explicitly authorize the App to monitor window changes in order to detect when restricted applications are placed in the foreground.
  • System Overlay: You authorize the App to render a blocking overlay view on top of other applications when screen time limits are exceeded.
  • Device Administrator Privileges: Enabling Device Admin is done at your own discretion to prevent unauthorized uninstallation of the App. You are responsible for remembering your 4-digit Parent PIN to disable this privilege.

5. Limitations of Device Capabilities

You acknowledge that the App's effectiveness depends heavily on the Android operating system and specific hardware vendors.

Certain custom Android skins (such as Xiaomi MIUI/HyperOS, Samsung One UI, OnePlus OxygenOS, etc.) employ highly aggressive background task managers. While HabitGuard contains helper protocols and whitelisting guides to prevent background services from being stopped, we do not guarantee 100% uninterrupted performance. It is the parent's responsibility to adjust OEM-specific battery optimization settings as guided in the App and setup documentation.

6. Advertisements and In-App Monetization

HabitGuard integrates Google AdMob SDK. The Application displays banner ads, interstitial ads, and rewarded video ads.

  • Rewarded Ads: If enabled by the parent, the child may watch rewarded video advertisements to earn bonus minutes. You agree that the App handles the ad completed callback by unlocking the blocked apps temporarily.
  • We do not control the contents of the third-party ads displayed. Please report any inappropriate ad content to our support email.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE APP WILL BE COMPLETELY ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR IMPERVIOUS TO BYPASS EFFORTS BY DETERMINED USERS.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL HABITGUARD OR ITS DEVELOPERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES arising from: (a) your use or inability to use the App; (b) any workaround or bypass performed by a minor; or (c) any failure of the background monitoring services due to system upgrades or OEM battery managers.

9. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of your local jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
